Hello Spring!!

Hey everyone, hope you've all been well..

I've been living under a rock for a while with my thesis.. Well technically it's more like  " Lily spends all day and night inside a sleeping bag tip tapping away at the computer and only knows it's day because she has to use her eye patch for sleeping " kinda deal than an actual rock, but it may as well be a rock. A starfish gets out more than me.

But I've got less than 14 days until hand in now, so the countdown until freedom is well and truly on.

In the meanwhile, I just wanted to share some awesome happy spring pics from various places around the web (read: pinterest!)

Okay Okay, so we may not have Hummingbirds here in Perth - but look at him ! How cute is the little guy!

Also, some pictures that have been making me laugh - because I know for some of you West Aussies, it's exam time / assignment avalanche time right now, so I thought I'd try n give you  a pick me up :)

EEE!

cutest. ever. Even the little tennis balls!!

funniest family portrait

10th Doctor. ( My husband has been getting into Doctor Who lately.. more to come on my crush of cuteness on Amelia Pond ).

Oh p.s., for any of you worried - little Strawberry is growing up and is as happy and healthy as can be, but really can't wait for warmer weather, as he tells me he's from Thailand.

sending you all the best, wherever you are in the world !

Welcome Strawberry!

New video @ Life on Planet Perth channel on youtube

I have a new fish!! His name is Strawberry, but his nickname lately has been Roar-y because he acts like he thinks he is a little T-Rex!

Hope you're all doing awesome, wherever you are in the world!

How do you gear up for cooler weather?

It's now the end of the second technically Autumn month.. and it's 31 degrees today in Perth.

I don't know if I mentioned it in my previous post, but when the mornings start to get that first crisp breeze - we Perthians instantly divide ourselves into 2 - some of us will be like " OH thank GOD, finally some rainy days, I can stay in my warm snuggly pj's and slippers all day.. now where's my slow cooker ?" .. and then there's the rest of us, myself included, who firmly believe that the best way to ward off the coming chilly weather is to pretend that it doesn't exist. Nope, don't know what you're talking about, I feel fine in my singlet and short shorts. Just fine.

I guess when I say this I'm largely referring to uni students, you see it all the time, short shorts with a giant hoodie that is big enough to smuggle a few textbooks out of the library without raising suspicion. If I get to uni anytime in the next few days I'll take some sneaky shots so I can show you exactly what I mean =9

So anyway, the question I'm putting out there, is what do you do to gear up for cold weather?

I won't start eating ham and cheese jaffles, or drinking Chai lattes until we've had at least 1 decent "wintery" storm.

NEWS - I am now (technically) a vlogger!

First of all - Beauty and the Beast is coming to Theaters 3D - don't think I can say how happy this makes me without giving away how much of a little girl I am on the inside . All I keep thinking about it is that ballroom scene.. cannot. wait.

On another note -  I finally took the plunge and made a vlog!

I've called in Life on Planet Perth - I'm going to try and give a snapshot of Perthy kind of things, keeping it as real as possible, which means I'll be trying to get everything said in one take - bloopers and all.
So yeah, hopefully this works out and we all get to have a bit of a joke around with ! So go for it, comment away, ask me things, video response me, parody my Aussie-ness, have some fun :)

March in Perth

Ahhh March, I love you.

The weather is not too hot that you feel yourself burn as you go to check the letterbox, but warm enough to go to beach, and warm enough that the concrete still feels warm under your bare feet at night. The leaves turn red and orange, but there are still frangipani blooms on the trees. The birds are migrating in V shaped flocks, and if you listen really carefully you can hear them faintly honk honking at each other.

March for me means Sculptures by the Sea, an annual Art exhibition held on Cottesloe Beach - Giant sculptures which turn the beach into something out of a children's imagination. Wanna see exactly what I'm talking about ? http://panthrough.com/sculpture-by-the-sea/ - there's a virtual tour!!
The Virtual tour has been shot in the afternoon, and I love how you can see all the families having picnics along the grassy area, and really get an idea of how the sculptures catch the light so perfectly at that time of day.

Beautiful breeze, Sculptures by the sea, Gelati in hand, surrounded by friends - and all at once I know that I will always, always call Perth home.

Also in March is the Mandurah crabfest - I can't tell you how much I LOVE this festival! So many amazing gourmet foods, ridiculously talented artists, - like this girl who I actually met and melted - Emma Blyth - I love ALL of her paintings!

show rides, fairy floss, fireworks, water ski displays, all by the water, it's what life is all about for me:)

My husband and I went to both the crabfest and sculptures by the sea when we had first started going out as teenagers - I still get those teenage *please don't ever let this feeling go* butterflies every year we go back.

Wishing you a fantastic autumn, wherever you are in the world,

Love Lily

The long awaited wedding photos!

Soo I know, this has been a long time coming - if I'm truthful with you all, I got locked out of my account because I changed my password to something ridiculously hard and forgot it... Anyway, so now I'm back and will be posting every Wednesday from now on..

I got the wedding photos back from the amazing photographers Alan and Steve from Amac & Wise and I really wanted you to see them! It was such a beautiful day and I'm so grateful to have had two amazingly talented photographers capture so many precious little moments. Here's a few-I've tried to have the important ones..

September already!

Hey everyone, hope you've all had a great weekend, wherever you are in the world :)

Sorry for the lack of posts, I've been running around town like a crazy person organising wedding details, phew! Nobody told me how much work getting married is - Meetings with the photographers, florists, venue events coordinator, e-conferencing with Luly Yang at 2am in the morning, having hair trials, makeup trials, getting nails done, organising table arrangements, choosing music, wedding cake, afternoon tea cakes, drinks selection, dinner selection, accommodation ! - The list seems neverending!

Anyway, I thought while I had a minute I'd share a few details that I CAN share with you!

The Venue:
Brookleigh Estate in the Swan Valley.

This place is just gorgeous, the photo's don't capture the way you feel like you've walked into a fairy tale just walking around. There are these amazing wooden doors which look like they're from Beauty & the Beast, which were imported from France and the chateau was designed around - and in the main bedroom inside, there is a domed ceiling complete with rose flower chandelier, like the bedroom of a princess! I can't believe his is where I will wake up on the day #heartbursts

Can't believe this will be me!!

The Aisle Song:
Priscilla Ahn: Dream

MusicPlaylist
Music Playlist at MixPod.com

The moment I heard this, Sam and I knew this is what I would be walking down the aisle to. We found it accidentally, watching Grey's one night, and then this played. In an instant, we had found it - we both just looked at each other, we didn't even need to say it. It also suits because I was such an earth child growing up, you could always find me on the weekends happily singing climbing a tree, making houses for the fairies, so for me it's about this big moment - me, the little girl alone up the tree, finding the person she wants to spend the rest of her life with, and taking that leap - ready to fly.

I was a little girl alone in my little world,
who dreamed of a little home for me.
I played pretend between the trees,
and fed my houseguests bark and leaves,
and laughed in my pretty bed of green.
I had a dream
That I could fly from the highest swing.
I had a dream.

The Hairpiece:
"Simone" by Olive Farm Handmade creations.
- This piece is being especially recreated using ivory tones to match the dress. Pieces of baby pink and ivory organza (from my dress) have been sent across by Luly Yang, and these will make up the translucent petals.

The SHOES!
Ceci Rose Air by Cole Haan

These shoes are the brainchild of a collaboration between designer Cole Haan and .. Nike - yes you read right - Inside these gorgeous pretty little heels hides a Nike Air sole, absolute genius for a bride who's going to be on her feet the entire day !

My actual pair is slightly different to the picture, we had the hand dyed with Luly Yang to match the dress - and when we came back for the next fitting, they'd HAND PAINTED the buds baby pink and lined the edges of the leaves with iridescent pearl - amazing - i feel like everything about the day, everything I'm wearing is literally a piece of art! ee ! happy clap!

So exciting ! talk again soon, all my love, Lily
